Simple Plan talks about Finalcial Crisis, Milk and hockey
Tell us about Simple Plan's nominated for Juno Awards
We're very proud of these nominations for Juno Awards. It's something special, because it's a huge award in Canada, in our hometown. Another important detail is that we'll have the chance to performance at the award. We had a hard work to get our latest album done, and receive a nomination for Album of The Year is really amazing.
Your last single helps instutions in its fight against the cancer. Tell us a little bit about the shows to help this out.
Our third single is the song called 'Save You’. It was dedicated to Pierre's brother (vocal of the group), who is now free of cancer. All the money raised with this single goes to fundations to help these people. We wanna do more things like that. Throught this record, we had the chance to talk about it with a lot of people, and then, some of them get involved to help as long as they can. After the shows in Brazil, we'll be back in Canada to another huge event to raise money.
The financial crisis is affecting the band somehow?
Obviously the crisis already affected the entertainment world. We're seen people losing their jobs. Now may be really difficult to buy a CD or to go to some concert. We hope to not have a longer crisis, the governments must be watching the population. I'm sure the crisis is going to affect a lot of bands, what we can do is double the energy and devotion in the stage. Do our best.
What's the last movie you saw?
The last movie was Milk. Three days ago. It has a great story, they did an amazing job showing at the big scream this huge Los Angeles icone. It's real story, it's part of the US story. That make us think a lot. I also saw Slumdog Millionaire? They deserved all the awards.
What was the best moments of you in Brazil?
All the shows in Brazil were great. Something I do remember was hang gliding in Rio de Janeiro. We could see the entire city. We talked about it for weeks. We had a great moment.
Simple Plan in Brazil: "The best for the end"
"We left the best for the end". That's what Chuck Comeau, Simple Plan's drummer, said about the serie of show in Brazil this month. The performances here are supposed to end the current tour of the canadians, that are travelling worldwide for over a year.
Simple Plan has seven dates confirmed in Brazil, between March 18th and March 26th. The band already came twice to Brazil, but none of them with so many concerts. Last year, these five guys came here to promote their third album and to some exclusives performances.
In one of them, the band play at Big Brother Brazil. The other time, the acoustic performance was promoted by Sao Paulo's radio. "It was funny, since we were about to release our new album", said Chuck. Then, the group started a new tour – that now, one year later, is coming to Brazil.
"We'll play songs from our three records", explain the drummer. "There's a lot of thing from the latest one, but also some old school and some surprises". Surprises? According to him, covers that the guys choose before to hit the stage. "We like to play hip hop".
In this brazilian tour, Chuck is looking forward to meet the brazilian fans."You're amazing. One of the best crowds in the world. It's always a pleasure to play there", he said.
And when he says meet the fans, he's not just talking about see the crowd, from the stage."We don't have any kind of deal with them, but I'm sure we'll have people waiting for us at the hotel and after the shows".
Chuck also took some time to praise the Simple Plan Brazil team."They're unbelievable. They get all the news about us even before our official wesbite!", he said.
